Farewell Message from Consul General HATORI

2022/9/20
Farewell message
As of September 21, I will leave my post after more than three years and ten months.
My greatest fortune during my tenure in Vancouver was the many people that I had the pleasure of meeting. Through meeting them – I saw the generosity of Canada and Canadians who have made efforts to welcome immigrants from various places for the development of their country, and the energy of the Japanese who came to Canada in pursuit of their dreams in a new land – the curiosity and closeness of many people who are interested in and came to love Japan. Thanks to them, my days here were happy, fulfilling and unforgettable.
Canada is already well on its way to living with COVID, and there are no longer any restrictions on economic and social activities. When I see all the people on the streets of Vancouver going about their daily lives, I hope that the Japanese will visit Canada just as they used to. And likewise, I hope that all Canadians who love Japan will be able to visit my country again as soon as possible.
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to all of you for your support and cooperation with me in my role as Consul General, and I wish you all continued good health and happiness.
Thank you very much.

September 20, 2022
