JET Programme - Overview

2024/8/6
The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme aims to enhance internationalization in Japan by promoting mutual understanding between Japan and other nations through fostering ties between Japanese youth and foreign, young professionals, from 51 countries. Participants have the opportunity to gain valuable overseas work experience, learn about Japanese language and culture, and meet participants from around the world, while contributing to English language education and international understanding.

The programme offers a minimum, one-year opportunity to experience Japan as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) or Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) through this official Government of Japan program. ALTs work alongside Japanese teachers of English in the school system, while CIRs are employed in local government offices to work on projects that involve internationalization at a local level. Position details.

In 2024, 48 participants departed from Vancouver out of over 170 from across Canada. Read our 2024 JET Programme Press Release.
