If I withdraw from JET, will I be eligible to re-apply?

Candidates may withdraw from JET and remain eligible to re-apply, as long as they have not received placement with a Contracting organization. Candidates, who withdraw after placement has been arranged, must wait two years before they are eligible to re-apply. Eg. A candidate who withdraws in 2015, after placement has been arranged, can re-apply for the 2017 JET Programme.

JET Programme officials keep asking for photos of me. Why?

The tendency to request photos will carry over to Japan. They are generally required for administrative purposes including applying for a job, registering residency in a new prefecture, completing out-of-country travel documents, etc.

It may be worth getting several passport sized photos done now and have them ready, or obtain a digital copy for printing later. Bring the extra photos to Japan. Photo-booth photos are fine for most purposes, but please have them taken without a background curtain in the picture; the white background photocopies better.
