Important Dates & Deadlines

 

What are the important dates to keep in mind?

A general schedule is as follows. Information on each item will be sent out in due course. These items and dates may be subject to change.

 

Late April

 

JET candidates send in a REPLY FORM (Due: April 24) confirming their intention to continue candidacy, and as soon as possible, a photocopy of their passport.

 

Late May

  • Final selection result for short-listed candidates. Placements announced.
  • Participants receive visa application forms.
  • Receive General Information Handbook and Japanese Language Materials.

June

Certificate of Health, Police Records Check and JET Accident Insurance Agreement due at the Consulate (June 5)

 

June through July
Participants receive welcome letter, placement details and contract from Contracting Organizations.

 

June 27 (Tentative)
Pre-Departure Preparation Seminar

 

June 28 (Tentative)

Teaching English in Japan Seminar

 

July 17

  • Visa application deadline
  • Proof of Graduation (Photocopy of University Degree) is due

July 31
Mandatory JET Pre-Departure Orientation and optional Farewell Reception.

 

August 1
Departure of JETs to Japan from Vancouver International Airport.

When is the absolute deadline for responding to an offer of acceptance for the 2015 JET Programme?

The deadline is April 24, 2015 as indicated on the bottom of the 2nd page of the REPLY FORM. Late replies will not be accepted.

When do you require proof of graduation?

A copy of your actual university degree must be provided by the earliest possible date, and no later than July 17, 2015. If this is not possible, it is imperative that the JET Coordinator at the Consulate be contacted.
