Carnarvon Community Elementary School (October 19, 2021)
2021/10/19
On Tuesday, October 19, the Consulate's staff and volunteers visited Ms. Allyson Donnelly’s Gr. 3/4 class of 20 students at Carnarvon Community Elementary School (SD39) for an Origami (折り紙) workshop as part of the 2021-2022‘Touch of Japan’school outreach project.
The Origami topic introduces students to the art of Japanese Washi (和紙) paper and the origins of Origami (折り紙) paper-folding. The history spans many hundreds of years, from ancient to modern times.
The students had so many questions (and knowledge!) about Japan and Japanese culture. We were impressed! A big thank you to Ms. Donnelly and her Gr. 3/4 class at Carnarvon! Arigatou!
Please contact us at programs@vc.mofa.go.jp if you’d like Touch of Japan to visit your class in the 2021-2022 school year.
“Japan, it’s just around the corner!”
