Lord Strathcona Elementary - Origami (October 12, 2021)
2021/10/12
On Tuesday, October 12, the Consulate's staff and community volunteers visited Ms. Ally Tapscott's Gr. 2/3 class at Lord Strathcona Elementary School (SD39) for an Origami (折り紙) workshop as part of the 2021-2022 ‘Touch of Japan’ school visit program.
Following the latest COVID regulations and safety procedures, the class of 19 attentive students enjoyed the presentation and took part in the hands-on paper-folding activity which was conducted right in their classroom.
The Origami topic introduces students to the art of Japanese Washi (和紙) paper and the origins of Origami (折り紙) paper-folding. The history spans many hundreds of years, from ancient times to today.
The students were welcoming, attentive and enthusiastic. We thank Ms. Tapscott and her Gr. 2/3 class at Strathcona! Arigatou!
