On August 3rd and 4th, 2024, the 48th Powell Street Festival took place at Oppenheimer Park and the historic Japanese Canadian neighbourhood, "Paueru Gai." As the largest Japanese-Canadian festival in Canada and one of the longest-running community festivals in the country, it attracts diverse crowds with live music, dance, traditional martial arts performances, and numerous Japanese food tents and vendors. This year, Deputy Consul General Okagaki shared remarks at the opening ceremony, celebrating the importance of cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and international friendship. Also, the Consulate General of Japan had its booth, promoting cultural and educational bridges between Canada and Japan.
