The 50th Annual Powell Street Festival (2026/8/1-2)

On August 1 & 2, the 50th Powell Street Festival was held at Oppenheimer Park and surrounding facilities in Powell Street, known as the historic Japanese Canadian neighbourhood. At the opening ceremony, Consul General Takahashi delivered a speech praising the Powell Street Festival for becoming a cherished celebration of Japanese Canadian history, culture, and artistic expression, while fostering friendship and understanding among people of all backgrounds. This festival is Canada's largest Japanese Canadian festival, featuring a variety of live performances, traditional martial arts demonstrations, and many Japanese food stalls, attracting large crowds.

The Consulate General of Japan in Vancouver also had a booth at the Vancouver Japanese Language School and Japanese Hall providing information on the JET Programme, Study in Japan Scholarship programs, and tourism in Japan.
