10th Annual Nikkei Matsuri

The Consulate General of Japan participated as a partner in the 10th annual Nikkei Matsuri which took place during the Labour Day long weekend on September 3 & 4 at the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre in Burnaby. Consul General Takashi Hatori, Elder Sam George of the Squamish Nation, and Burnaby City Mayor Mike Hurley attended the opening ceremony as guests and offered welcoming remarks.

A Bon-Odori folk dance, Wadaiko drumming, various musical and dance performances, together with a martial arts demonstration and an array of alluring Japanese food stalls and craft booths made for two vibrant late-summer days.
