The ceremony was brightened by the appearance of Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado who was on her visit to Canada celebrating the 90th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Canada.
A Bon-Odori folk dance, Wadaiko drumming, various musical and dance performances, together with a martial arts demonstration and an array of alluring Japanese food stalls and craft booths made for two vibrant late-summer days.
