2023 Japan Training Squadron Visit to Victoria

Two ships from Japan Training Squadron, "JS Kashima" and "JS Hatakaze" of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) with approximately 560 crew, will make a friendly port call to Esquimalt, Victoria, from Thursday, June 15 to Sunday, June 18, 2023 for the purpose of overseas training and international goodwill between Japan and Canada. The following events are scheduled during the visit:
1. Public Visits of "JS Kashima" and "JS Hatakaze"
(1) Date and entry hours: June 17 (Saturday), 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
(2) Location: Esquimalt Naval Base Dockyard
(Meeting and parking points: Main Gate, Esquimalt Naval Base. Shuttle buses will take you from the main gate to the dockyard every 15 minutes.)
(3) Application: Please apply for your visit through the link below. There is no fee for this application.

(4) Notes:
a) A limit on the total number of participants is set, as the Port of Esquimalt, where the JMSDF vessels will be docked, is a Canadian naval base. Therefore, please note that applications for the ship visit will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be closed when the number of applicants reaches the limit.
b) Due to security requirements, please bring your passport or other government-issued photo ID with you on the day of the event.

2. Music Performance by the Japan Training Squadron
(1) Date: June 16 (Friday), 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
(2) Location: Cameron Bandshell in Beacon Hill Park
*Free of charge and all are welcome; registration not required.
