New Year's Greetings from Consul General
2023/1/1

Happy New Year to all of you!
This is my first New Year here in Vancouver and it is a great honour to celebrate it with all of you.
Above all else, I wish you all prosperity and good health in 2023. I strongly hope to foster the friendship between Canada and Japan, and increase the variety of exchanges and cooperation between our two countries. While the international situation continues to evolve and there are various factors for concern, I believe that the Canada-Japan relationship will become increasingly important in terms of security, energy, natural resources, among others. At the same time, I believe more attention will be paid to BC and Vancouver as a gateway to the Asia Pacific.
In this Year of the Rabbit, we, the Consulate-General of Japan, inspired by the agility, leaping ability, and cuteness of rabbits – which are loved by all. We would like to become an organization that is loved and trusted even more. We will continue to make an effort to be more agile and provide attentive service with your advice and support.
In closing, I wish you all good health and a prosperous and happy New Year. Here’s to a wonderful 2023.
