On November 28th, Consul General Maruyama met with Mr. Michael Loseth, President and CEO, Forestry Innovation Investment and exchanged views on strengthening the relationship in the forestry industry between Japan and British Columbia.

On November 28th, Consul General Maruyama met with Mr. Michael Goehring, President and CEO, Mining Association of British Columbia and exchanged views on strengthening the relationship in the mining industry between Japan and British Columbia.

On November 27th, Consul General Maruyama met with Mr. Daniel Sitnam, President and CEO, Helijet International Inc. and exchanged views on strengthening the economic relationship with Japan.

Consul General attends commemorative events for 50th anniversary of sister city affiliation between the City of Richmond and Wakayama City 2023.11.16-19

Mr. Fujimura, President of the Wakayama Prefectural Judo Federation, and a group of elementary, junior high, and high school Judo players visited the City of Richmond, a sister city of Wakayama. On the 16th, a commemorative tree planting ceremony was held at City Hall with Mayor Brodie and Richmond City Councillors in attendance, on the 18th, the Steveston Judo Tournament was held to commemorate the Steveston Judo Club’s 70th anniversary, and on the 19th, a Farewell dinner was hosted by the City of Richmond and the Steveston Judo Club. The Consul General attended each event and gave a congratulatory speech at the Judo Tournament.

On November 15th, Consul General Maruyama met with Ms. Laura Jones, President and , Business Council of British Columbia (BCBC) and exchanged views on strengthening the economic relationship between Japan and British Columbia.

Consul General welcomed a visit by Vice Speaker of Okinawa Prefectural Assembly 2023.11.14

On November 14, Consul General Maruyama welcomed Vice Speaker Teruya Moriyuki and a delegation from Okinawa Prefectural Assembly and had a conversation spanning a variety of issues including the relationship between Japan and Canada as well as with British Columbia.

Consul General Maruyama attends Japanese Canadian War Memorial Ceremony on Remembrance Day 2023.11.11

On November 11, a Remembrance Day ceremony was held at the Japanese Canadian War Memorial in Stanley Park. Consul General Maruyama attended the ceremony and laid a wreath to remember the fallen.

On November 10th, Consul General Maruyama met with the Hon. Raj Chouhan, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and the Hon. Jagrup Brar, Minister of State for Trade and had a conversation on a variety of issues, including strengthening the relationship between Japan and BC.

Consul General Maruyama attends a lecture on Japan’s Role in Indo-Pacific Security 2023.11.02

On November 2, Consul General Maruyama attended a lecturer co-hosted by the Consulate General of Japan in Vancouver and the Centre for Japanese Research, University of British Columbia, and presented opening remarks. Professor Mori Satoru from Keio University was invited to give the lecture titled “Japan’s Role in Indo-Pacific Security”. Over 120 people attended the seminar.
