Remarks by Consul General Takahashi
On May 31, Consul General Takahashi visited Salt Spring Island in the Gulf Islands, where he delivered remarks at a ceremony for the Japanese Canadian Memorial Story Project. He also met with pre-war residents of the island, including Ms. Mary Kitagawa, a recipient of the Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays, and her family members.

In addition, he attended the unveiling celebration for historical interpretive panels at Heiwa Garden and visited sites of historical significance, including charcoal kilns used before the Second World War and the Japanese Canadian cemetery.
