Consul General Takahashi Visits Ucluelet (2026/828)
2026/8/28
On August 28, Consul General Takahashi visited Ucluelet on the west coast of Vancouver Island, where he learned about the history of the Japanese Canadian community that existed there before the war. He also attended the unveiling of a pavilion built to preserve and share the memory of that community, and delivered remarks at the ceremony.
The gazebo-style pavilion was completed by a Canadian carpenter who studied traditional Japanese temple and shrine carpentry techniques.
