On July 1, Consul General Takahashi attended the opening ceremony of the Steveston Salmon Festival, held in Steveston, Richmond, British Columbia, on Canada Day. He celebrated the opening of the festival together with the Honourable Kelly Greene, B.C. Minister of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness, Mayor Malcolm Brodie of Richmond, and other distinguished guests.
In his remarks, Consul General Takahashi spoke about the deep connection between Steveston, a community which developed around the salmon fishing industry, and Japanese immigrants.
