On April 11, Consul General Takahashi attended Sakura Days Japan Fair, held at VanDusen Botanical Garden.
At the opening ceremony, after delivering remarks to the attendees, he took part in a kagami biraki (sake barrel-breaking ceremony). He then moved to another area and was briefed by the Vancouver Japanese Gardeners Association on the newly landscaped Japanese garden (Kare Sansui).
Many visitors enjoyed the festival’s activities and attractions throughout the venue. These included a cultural information booth hosted by the Consulate General of Japan in Vancouver, Japanese food vendors, community partner booths, hands-on craft experiences and stage performances.
