“Walk in Canada, Talk on Japan” delegation visits Vancouver
2019/3/8
A delegation for the “Walk in Canada, Talk on Japan” program visited Vancouver from March 4 to 6, and held public lectures at the University of British Columbia (UBC).
The program is rooted in the belief that exchanges between people from Japan, Canada and the US can nurture the friendship between their countries at a grassroots level. Having been running since 2014, the program first came to Vancouver in 2016 - making this year’s event Vancouver’s second time as host city.
The delegation, led by Mr. Ishigaki, Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Public Affairs, Director of Global Communications Prime Minister’s Office, includes Ms. Miyake (Kyogen performer), Ms. Chujo (JPMorgan Chase & Co.), Ms. Sakai (Japan Women’s University student) and Mr. Hatta (PhD student at the National Astronomical Observatory).
On March 5, the delegation held various events at UBC and also took part in a welcome reception held by Consul General Hatori. At the lively reception, Ms. Miyake gave a Kyogen (comic noh theatre) demonstration.
