On Friday, November 30th a Welcome Back Reception was held at the residence of the Consul General for the Japan Exchange & Teaching (JET) Programme participants, who finished their contracts and returned to British Columbia in 2018. In all, 23 participants returned to British Columbia, this year.

During the reception, Tai Lam (President, JET Alumni Association of BC and Yukon) and Dr. Joshua Mostow (Associate Head, Asian Studies, UBC) welcomed back the participants in attendance. The participants shared some of their accomplishments and fond memories of their time in Japan. The guests were especially appreciative to hear the former participants’ stories. Consul General Takashi Hatori conveyed to the returnees his hope that the friendships and connections they made while on the JET Programme will continue to foster a strong relationship between Japan and Canada.
