Eitetsu Hayashi with Eitetsu FU-UN no KAI Cross-Canada Tour and Workshop

As part of his cross-canada tour in celebration of the 90th anniversary of Canada-Japan diplomatic relations, on August 15 Japan’s premier solo taiko drummer Eitetsu Hayashi brought his touring ensemble Eitetsu FU-UN no KAI to the Chan Centre for a thrilling performance utilizing elaborate choreography, lighting and costume. The audience was blown away by the ferocious beauty and transcendent power of the 2-hour show which was organized and coordinated by the Japan Foundation in cooperation with the Consulate-General of Japan.
On August 14 and 16 Eitetsu Hayashi also led two additional taiko workshops at the Asian Centre auditorium during his stay in Vancouver, both of which were geared toward sharing his accumulated knowledge and pioneering techniques of taiko drumming with local taiko groups in a friendly environment.
