42nd Annual Powell Street Festival

  The Annual Powell Street Festival was held on August 4 and 5. The event is the largest Japanese Canadian festival in the country. The festival always offers up lots to do and see, including many performances, food and cultural activities. One large troupe, KARAKORO, came all the way from Osaka to present creative and traditional eisa, based on classical Okinawan performing arts. Many people also stopped by the Consulate General of Japan’s booth to pick up information about Japan and watch our new video “Japan Into the Future with Canada.”
