The 2017 Visit of Japanese Training Squadron

Two ships from the Japanese Training Squadron, manned by a combined crew of approximately 580, are scheduled to make a port call to North Vancouver from Saturday, September 16 to Wednesday, September 20. As a part of an around the world training cruise of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Forces (JMSDF), the ships, ‘KASHIMA’ and ‘HARUSAME’ are expected to arrive at the Burrard Dry Dock Pier (map attached) on Saturday morning.

2. ARRIVAL: September 16 (Sat)9 a.m.
Please join us in welcoming the Squadron at the Burrard Dry Dock Pier.
3. PUBLIC TOUR: September 17 (Sun)1:00p.m. to 3:30p.m.
Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force will open its training ship “HARUSAME’ to the public for tours. No registration is required. Use of public transportation is highly recommended due to limited parking. Please note the tour may be cancelled in case of bad weather. Please make sure to wear appropriate shoes for safety reasons(- no high heels).
4. DEPARTURE: September 20 (Wed) 9 a.m.
Please come to the Burrard Dry Dock Pier to see off the squadron on September 20. The ships are scheduled to leave at 9 a.m.
