With Members of Vancouver Maritime Museum
Briefing by Mr. Macleod, Curator
On March 23rd, the opening reception of the “The Lost Fleet” exhibition was held at the Vancouver Maritime Museum. Through featuring the 1137 fishing vessels of Japanese fishermen that were seized in BC after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and the history of the hardship of Japanese Canadians, the exhibition poses a question what has the society learnt from it to face the current discussion on immigration. At the reception, Sushi and Sake were served for invitees that included families of fishermen who actually lost their vessels and those engaged in preservation of the history.
