Consul General Okai attended Unveiling of the Plaque Ceremony of the Heiwa (Peace) Park

On September 23^rd, Consul General Okai visited Duncan on Vancouver Island, B.C., and attended Unveiling of the Plaque Ceremony of the Heiwa (Peace) Park.  During World War II, Japanese-Canadian residents of the region were displaced, interned inland and dispossessed.  The City of Duncan built Heiwa Park to remember and honor the former and current Japanese-Canadians in the region and to make a pledge of peace for the future.
