Consul General Okai's Visit to Nanaimo

On July 19^th, Consul General Okai visited Nanaimo, located in the central part of Vancouver Island, B.C., and paid a visit to Mayor Bill McKay.  Nanaimo is the 3^rd oldest city in B.C. and has a Sister City relationship with Saitama City for 20 years.  Consul General also visited Vancouver Island University which is very forthcoming about receiving Japanese students.  In addition, she was briefed about the era of frontier development in the island at Nanaimo Museum, and discussed with the executive members of the Central Vancouver Island Japanese-Canadian Society.
