On Tuesday June 9th, Parliamentary Vice-Minister, Mr. Uto made a short stopover in Vancouver on his way to the Bahamas and visited Steveston. Although, his visit was short, he visited the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site, Kuno Garden, Nikkei Heritage Museum, Murakami House, the Steveston Martial Arts Centre and the Steveston Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre. His last stop was the Steveston Buddhist Temple where he offered flowers at the memorial for Japanese. Through encountering the history of Japanese living here, he renewed his appreciation for the depth of the history of Japan and Canada
