British Columbian Awarded Japan’s Prestigious Order of the Rising Sun

On June 18th, 2011, the Government of Japan announced the recipients of its Spring Decorations. In British Columbia, Mr. William Moncrief, Councillor of the Village of Cumberland（and former Mayor）, is awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays for his contribution to elevating the status of Japanese Canadians and promotion of friendly relations between Japan and Canada.

A conferment ceremony will be held on July 23rd, in Cumberland.
