As small business owner Umemoto is about to loose everything, he winds up in a homeless community called “SHANGRI-LA” where he gets some unconventional advice and assistance as together they create a money con-game to avenge his losses. A collaboration between prolific director Takashi Miike and comic book artist Yuji Aoki based on his best-selling autobiographical novel. (2002, 104 min. Japanese with English subtitles. At 3:10 p.m. Breathe In, Breathe Out (Shinkokyu no Hitsuyo). Seeking a fresh start in life, Hinami heads to Okinawa to work harvesting sugarcane and finds herself among four very diverse youths. Together, they must quickly harvest 70,000 plants for the plantation owners to avoid financial disaster. The hard labour, their foreman's leadership, and rising conflicts make quitting attractive and the chance of a successful harvest doubtful. (2004, 123 min. Japanese with English subtitles.
