International Manga Award

These days, manga is well know to people all over the world. The International Manga Award has been established in order to honor the excellent work of up-and-coming manga artists overseas. The awards for this contest shall be decided after careful examination and deliberation by the evaluation committee with the support of the Japan Cartoonists Association (JCA). The establishment of the award will promote greater understanding of Japanese culture among overseas manga artists; it will also help to further heighten the quality of manga culture in other countries, as award winners will be able to use experiences from their stay in Japan, such as informal meetings with celebrated Japanese manga artists, in their creative activities back home.
