Local Staff Employment Opportunity
The Consulate General of Japan in Vancouver is recruiting for one
local staff member to work in the Culture and Public Information Section
who meets the below qualifications. Interested persons are requested
to submit their curriculum-vitae (one English language copy and one
Japanese language rirekisho), along with telephone and e-mail
contact information, a mailing address, on or before January 8,
2007.
Note: The Consulate will neither confirm the receipt of any

1. Outline of Position
The employment is for a full time position in the Culture and Public
Information Section and involves introducing the culture of Japan,
handling scholarship applications and Japan Foundation program applications
among other duties.
2. Term of Employment
The term is a 2 years based on a contract with possible renewal depending
upon performance of duties. Employment is expected to commence on
February 1, 2007.
3. Qualifications
Applicants are required to meet all the following conditions:
(1) Be in a position to work legally in Canada for a minimum period
of 2 consecutive years from February 1, 2007
(2) Have an Academic background at least equal to a B.A.
(3) Have a high level of speaking and writing ability in English
(4) Either to have passed the 2nd level of Japanese Language Proficiency
Test or have knowledge of the Japanese language equivalent to that
level
(5) Be able to operate Word, Excel etc.
(6) Be willing to submit a criminal record upon request
4. Hours and Benefits
Working Hours: Monday through Friday 9 a.m. through 5 p.m., (excluding
holidays as established by the Consulate),
Vacation: Annual vacation leave package.
Salary: To be decided based on education and work experience.
5. Selection Process
After the initial screening of documents, each applicant will be contacted
individually regarding the possibility of an interview.
