The 26th Annual B.C. Japanese Speech Contest

 

The 26th Annual B.C. Japanese Speech Contest was held at Simon Fraser University on Saturday, March 1st by the B.C. Japanese Speech Contest Organizing Committee in collaboration with the Consulate General of Japan in Vancouver.

 

This year 29 contestants from different parts of B.C. were selected to compete at the contest. Audiences of about a hundred, included families, friends, teachers and learners of the Japanese language, came to cheer on the contestants.

 

Teachers and judges commented the calibre of the speeches was very high this year and they were proud of the success of the students. All contestants received participation prizes; winners received special prizes from sponsors and organizers for their achievements.

 

In celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Consulate General of Japan in Vancouver, Consul General Okada presented a special award - Consul General's Trophy to the top winner of the speech contest, Ketty Zhang (1st place winner of the university/public beginner). List of winners(91KB)

 

First place winning students in the university/public division will go on to compete in the nationals on March 29 in Ottawa.
