New Year Receptions Hosted by Consul General and Mrs. Okada (January 10, 17, 24 & 31)
The Consulate General of Japan hosted a New Year’s Party at the Consul General’s official residence on January 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st. Guests included representatives from community groups, cultural organizations, educational institutions and businesses.
At the beginning of the receptions, Consul General Okada expressed his gratitude for the support shown to him by individuals and groups since his arrival to the post last year. In his New Year’s speech, Consul General announced his motto for the year: “On-ko-chi-shin” (discover the new by learning from the past) and expressed his determination in undertaking a variety of projects including the events to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Consulate in Vancouver.
At the parties, guests enjoyed Sake, which has been gaining high popularity here in British Columbia, along with Japanese new year cuisine.
