Lecture by Nobel Laureate Dr. Akira Suzuki

 

On Friday, March 21, the Consulate General of Japan and UBC Department of Chemistry hosted a lecture by Nobel Laureate Dr. Akira Suzuki, Professor Emeritus of  Hokkaido University.  The event was part of the Consulate General of Japan’s 125th Anniversary celebrations.
  
Dr. Suzuki specializes in cross-coupling reactions and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2010. The lecture focused on cross-coupling reactions of organoboranes. Approximately two-hundred forty people attended the event. The audience consisted mainly of academics, researchers and students.
