Domestic Factors in China’s External Policy: The Case of Japan-China Relations Lecture by Professor Akio TakaharaOn Friday, November 1st, the Institute Asian Research at UBC and the Consulate General of Japan hosted a lecture by Professor Akio Takahara of the Graduate School of Law and Politics, University of Tokyo, and senior researcher at the Tokyo Foundation. The lecture examined politics in China and China’s external policy, as well as their influence on Japan-China relations .
Held on UBC’s main campus, in the Conference Room of the C.K. Choi Building, the lecture was well-attended by students and members of the public. A panel discussion, chaired by Joseph Caron, Former Canadian Ambassador to Japan, followed Dr. Takahara’s lecture. The panel included, Dr. Yves Tiberghien, current Director of the Insitute of Asian Research, and Dr. Brian Job, Professor from the Liu Institute of Global Issues.
