Receptions Hosted by Consul General and Mrs. Okada to greet Local Groups (March 4, 7, 13, 15)
Reception Hosted by Consul General and Mrs. Okada to greet Local Japanese Canadian and Japanese Groups On Monday March 4th, a Welcome Reception for Consul General and Mrs. Okada was held at the official residence with representatives from local Japanese Canadian and Japanese groups.
At the beginning of the reception, while almost two years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake, Consul General Okada, as in the past, expressed his gratitude for the donations by many local people including the Japanese Canadian and Japanese groups. He also explained that all those donations have been distributed for recovery of the area affected by the earthquake and tsunami.
During the reception, guests enjoyed Japanese premium sake popular among local people along with the food. The reception was a great success.

Consul General and Mrs. Okada Host Reception for Academic Groups from Local Universities and Colleges
On Thursday March 7th, a welcome reception for Consul General and Mrs. Okada was held at the official residence with academic groups from local universities and colleges as well as representatives from JETAABC (JET Alumni Association of British Columbia and Yukon) attending as guests.
To begin, Consul General Okada presented his greetings to the guests and introduced himself by tracing his diplomatic career and highlighting his relationship with Canada.
He stated three main goals he hopes to achieve as Consul General of Japan in Vancouver: the expansion of service to Japanese citizens, support for Japanese companies, and the enhancement of the relationship between Canada and Japan. He said that he would like cooperate with local universities and colleges to accomplish the third goal in the area of academia.

Consul General and Mrs. Okada Host Reception for Local Cultural Groups
On Wednesday March 13th, a reception hosted by Consul General and Mrs. Okada was held at the official residence along with local cultural groups.
At the beginning, Consul General Okada stated that he attended a joint announcement of the extension of the grant by the Government of Japan for the tsunami debris derived from the Great East Japan Earthquake in the morning with the Honourable Peter Kent, Minister of the Environment of Canada, with the presence of the Honourable Terry Lake, British Columbia Minister of the Environment, and he expressed his deep gratitude to Canadians for their generous support for the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
He also expressed that he would like to cooperate with the local cultural groups in the future as well to promote Japanese culture to Canadians.

Consul General and Mrs. Okada Host Reception for Local Economic Groups
On Friday March 15th a reception hosted by Consul General and Mrs. Okada was held at the official residence for local cultural groups.
To begin, Consul General Okada presented his greetings to the guests and introduced himself by tracing his diplomatic career and highlighting his relationship with Canada. He noted that Japanese companies have developed business-to-business activities in Vancouver in the past and he expressed his desire to enhance the support to Japanese companies, to promote business relationship between Canada and Japan, and better serve their business activities by strengthening the relationship with the federal and provincial governments.
During the reception, guests enjoyed Japanese premium sake and beer produced by local Japanese companies along with the food. The reception was a great success.
