Reception for the 78th Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan

On the Friday December 2nd, a reception to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty The Emperor was held at Cost Coal Harbor Hotel. in Vancouver. Approximately 400 guests attended, including the Honourable Premier Christy Clark, Members of Legislative Assembly, delegates from the federal, provincial, and municipal governments, as well as those from business, education, and Japan-related organizations. Guests enjoyed Japanese traditional cultural performances and food.

To show our gratitude for the support we received from Canadians after the Great East Japan Earthquake and to inform Canadians about the current state of Japan’s recovery, we included songs and dance performances from the Tohoku region. We also had a Tohoku tourism promtions desk, a display of photos of Japan's recovery, Fukushima-featured sake tasting and sushi made from Fukuoka rice.
